Nickel Base Bimetallic Barrels are particularly suitable for processing engineering plastics and compounds containing abrasive or corrosive additives. Materials such as glass-fiber reinforced plastics, mineral-filled compounds, flame-retardant resins, and certain recycled materials can accelerate wear on conventional barrels. The nickel-based alloy layer helps protect the barrel surface against these demanding processing conditions, reducing wear and extending service life.

Leveraging decades of experience in bimetallic technology, TAN STAR INDUSTRIES INC. manufactures barrels that combine the strength of a high-quality steel substrate with the superior wear and corrosion resistance of advanced nickel-based alloys. This construction helps maintain stable processing performance, improve production efficiency, and minimize maintenance requirements. Our Nickel Base Bimetallic Barrels are widely used in extrusion and injection molding applications where consistent product quality, operational reliability, and long-term cost effectiveness are essential.
T-60
Currently, bimetallic barrel T-60 is Tan Star’s highest-grade nickel-based bimetallic barrel, with a maximum hardness as high as HRC 70.

It is specially used in engineering plastics where halogen-free fire retardant or more than 40% of glass fiber is added. Also, in response to the high velocity, high pressure injection requirement, recently, Tan Star has successfully developed a whole-new technology that increases the hardness of the base material to more than HRC 30, enabling the bimetallic barrels even more outstanding pressure-resistant.

The T-60 Nickel Base Bimetallic Barrel is designed for plastic processing environments where both wear resistance and pressure resistance are critical. Materials containing high levels of glass fiber or flame-retardant additives can significantly accelerate barrel wear, leading to reduced processing stability and increased maintenance requirements. The high-hardness alloy layer helps maintain barrel performance under these demanding conditions while supporting longer service life.

In addition to its excellent wear resistance, the T-60 is well suited for applications requiring high injection pressures and continuous production cycles. Its advanced bimetallic construction combines a wear-resistant nickel-based alloy with a strengthened steel substrate, providing enhanced durability and structural integrity for demanding extrusion and injection molding operations.

Backed by Tan Star’s extensive experience in centrifugal casting technology and bimetallic manufacturing, the T-60 offers a reliable solution for processors working with engineering plastics, reinforced compounds, and other high-performance materials. By reducing wear-related downtime and helping maintain stable melt quality, it contributes to improved production efficiency and lower long-term operating costs.
